As a father of four, Bill is always concerned about the quality of education, that our children are safe, and that our school facilities are in good condition.
Bill is committed to ensuring our public schools are the best choice on our beautiful island; yet we have work to do. Teacher recruitment and retention has become more of a challenge. Reading and Math scores have dropped.
Our City funded educational enhancements and infrastructure this year totaled over $2 million. No other city in the Miami-Dade County Public School district provides this magnitude of enhancements. However, we need to do more.
Objectives:
Increase funding for one-on-one reading and math instruction for our youth struggling with literacy and/or mathematics
Offer more opportunities for our students to enroll in college courses and high school classes simultaneously, saving the students and parents money through dual education programs
Grow our need-based scholarship program for our first-generation college students
Provide Miami Beach Police patrolling year-round at our schools as well as collaborative training with MDCPS for school emergencies
